Tim Tracy – 2025

Tim has done it all; B&F winner, club captain, president, elusive goalkicker, trophy collector, picked on the half forward flank in the team of the quarter century, womens coach. Tim, Ange and 4 kids are a hugely popular geckos family.

Rick Olarenshaw – 2025

Rick Olarenshaw remains a celebrated figure in Essendon history as a key member of the legendary 1993 “Baby Bombers” premiership team. A quick and skillful left-foot wingman, his career was marked by early brilliance and a resilient battle against injuries.
After a decorated career in the AFL, athlete management and the media, Rick moved to Indonesia full-time in 2013, and Hinchy He has been a driving force for Australian Rules Football in the region. He found immense success as a player-coach, leading the Bali Geckos to back-to-back Division 2 titles (2016–17) and the Indonesian Volcanoes to Division 1 glory in 2018. He also led the Bali Geckos to a Batam Cup title in 2023.

Graeme Nicholas – 2024

Even tho he never pulled on the boots for the Geckos, Nico was the heart and soul of the Bali Geckos. Always lending a hand off field, coaching the women and juniors, leading the charge on tour, Nico was a much loved figure at the Geckos. Unfortunately we lost Nico suddenly in 2023, and his son was proud to receive his life membership posthumously a year later.

Bryce Critch – 2024

Since moving to Bali, Bryce has been a star for the Geckos. A dual best & fairest winner, his clean hands and kicking skills have been a class above in AFL Asia. Was the inaugural captain of the Indonesian Volcanies, leading the country to the 2018 Champs title.

Adrian Keet – 2024

A rugby convert, Keety has been a regular Gecko for over a decade. Represented the indigenous All Asian team v China in Shanghai.

Adam Bilwani – 2023

The ultimate swingman; could play a high half forward role, slide into the midfield or wing, or rebound off halfback. Several podium finishes in the Best & Fairest. A chronic ankle injury cut down his Geckos career prematurely. Inaugural coach of the women’s team. Now focuses on sledging his teammates.

Troy Luff – 2023

Though never having lived in Bali, this ex Sydney Swans legend has been a constant in the Geckos lineup since making his debut in 2002. Has starred every year in the Bali Masters, and dominated all around Asia. The best player for the season over 35 is now awarded the Troy Luff Medal.

Andre ‘Arn’ Susanto – 2023

The first local player awarded life membership. Arn has always been a crowd favorite as he zips around the forward line like Cyril Rioli. Has inspired many other locals to play football, and has become a real leader with our Indonesian squad.

William ‘Mitch’ Mitchell – 2023

Pulled on the boots a few times for the Geckos, particularly in the Bali Masters, but best known for volunteering his time to help run and grow the club, with a big impact on developing our juniors. A regular on Geckos tours.

Rodney Joseph – 2022

An integral part of the Geckos club revival. A reliable defender who had an impact when thrown forward. Played in the Asian champs wins, and won multiple Bali Masters trophies. Served on the committee for a number of years. A great entertainer on the dance floor.

Jason McCartney – 2004

J Mac’s story of courage during the 2002 terrorist attacks in Bali is well documented as was his commitment to his recovery to eventually play AFL again for North Melbourne one last time. His love for Bali was not taken from him from the terrorists and he supported Bali and the Bali Geckos, pulling on the jumper in the Bali 9’s 2003, coinciding with the first anniversary of the attacks. He was awarded life membership for his support.

Paul Hutson – 2003

Taking over the captaincy reigns from Childsy, Hutty led the club with aplomb during the early part of this century and whilst being a skillful footballer helped, his major impact on the club was ensuring fun was front and centre of the Geckos culture.

Jason Childs – 2003

Out inaugural captain, Childsy showed enormous courage to play for the Geckos at all after losing an eye in a childhood accident which stopped his football career at a young age. The lure of being part of Bali’s first footy team was too much to ignore though, and Childsy’s enthusiasm, passion and courage made him the obvious choice as the first ever captain of the Bali Geckos.

Patrick Hurley – 2003

Pattywhack was an integral part of the early years of the Geckos becoming the club’s second coach and bringing some old school toughness to the backline when on the field.

He helped build the culture that exists today of ensuring fun and mateship are just as important as the footy.

Greg Hinchliffe

The undisputed spiritual leader of the Bali Geckos. The founder of the Geckos in 1997, Hinchy has captained and coached the Geckos, won multiple awards, been an integral part of trophy winning teams, and is now the President. Has ran the Bali Masters tournament since inception; in 2019 there are 47 teams registered to participate over 3 days, arguably the world’s biggest Aussie Rules tournament.Hinchy is still first picked in the geckos lineup at the age of 53, his competitive and combative nature showing no signs of slowing down!

Peter Muir

Peter (“Gunny”) Muir joined the Geckos in 2000 and very quickly established himself as the best player in Asia and made All-Asian teams every year for over a decade. A seven time Best and Fairest for the Geckos, Peter was also the Club Coach for a record 9 years and led the Geckos through one of their most successful periods. Gunny was in charge of running the first Bali 9’s tournaments and the Masters 9’s is now the largest tournament in Asia.

John Lincoln

Johnny Lincs joined the Geckos in 1999 after previously playing against them for the Jakarta Bintangs when he was posted in the nation’s capital. He very quickly became an integral part of the Geckos and was the Club President from 2002 for a four year period. His leadership led to the introduction of the now annual President’s lunch in the best 5-Star restaurant in the Asian Champs Capital city following the Asian Championships. A dour back-man on the field, he was rarely beaten and never beaten in after game festivities.

David Eagles

David (“Buffet”) Eagles was a founding member of the Club and played in the first ever Geckos game in 1997. He has been the resident artist for the Geckos and his creativity has been utilised in all apparel, posters and promotional material for the Geckos from the beginning. His artistry on the field can also not be overlooked and his perfection of the left foot inside out torpedo punt is something of legendary status.
