Bali Geckos 9 8 62
Jakarta Bintangs 10 18 78

The second games between the Geckos and the Bintangs was a scrappy, crowded game on a very small field. With the assistance of Michelle and Quicksilver, the Gecko logo and club jumper were created and worn proudly for the first time in this match.

The Bintangs, due to their greater number of players demanded that the game be played with 12-a-side, a decision that later turned out detrimental to the game. After a move to Bali, John Lincoln lined up with the Geckos against his former club, who were obvious in trying to “line-up” Lincoln at any possible moment.

The Geckos line up was strengthened by 6’8” ruckman Mike Burbidge, who dominated ruck duels and fed the Geckos on-ballers all day. During the game Hinchy received some very close attention from a Bintang opponent in the form of a ’squirrel grip’ in a pack.

Playing on the ball, Nathan again stood out and was among the best.
