The Warriors were certainly going into this game as the underdogs. Although the Geckos lost Hamo early in the match, they were still too strong for the Warriors, who also lost a player with a serious knee injury early in the game, further depleting their small squad. Buffet Dave was forced to watch from the sidelines, having to stay within close distance of a toilet. With the Geckos dominating all over the ground, and Matty going off with an ankle injury, coach Paddy Hurley made some changes, giving some players the opportunity to play in key positions. Stiffy reveled in the challenge and stood out for the Geckos, later being awarded BOG during a day where the Geckos kicked their highest score to date.
