To accommodate a Bintang request to end game earlier, the match was rescheduled to be played at midday, during the hottest part of the year. A cunning ploy perhaps by the Bintangs, but the Geckos ran away with a solid win. Geckos dominated all over the ground, with Hamo dominating at fullback, Scarffy in the guts and Nath at full forward saw the spine well controlled all day long. And if the game was held later in the afternoon as scheduled, the drubbing could have been even worse for the Bintangs, with Peter ‘Gun’ Muir turning up to join the Geckos for a kick for the first time only to see the Geckos sing their song, victorious by 16 points.
